Who I am
In this post you will write about who you are now at the end of the semester. Using your admissions essay as a base line, you will write a new essay that reflects any changes that have occurred during the semester in regard to 1) who you are in general compared to who you were when you wrote the essay or how you represented yourself in the essay; 2) any changes in your expectations; 3) changes in commitment to college and learning; 4) goals for the future. Post your admissions essay that you submitted to apply to the FYF program (you should have a copy, but if you don't, see me for an electronic copy). After you post this essay, you will post your new essay that discusses the changes and learning in the semester.
Process Note: copy both essays in "WordPad" and then save in WordPad. AFter that copy the content and then post content in the blog. This will help with formatting and protecting your work so it's savded).
Add a photo or video that represents you on Day One and one that represents you NOW.
Student vs. Learner
Reflect back on the article we read about what it means to be a student versus a learner. Please answer if you are a student or a learner. Also reflect on the beginning of the semester; were you a student or a learner then? Has anything changed?Be as detailed as possible. Include in this post a picture that reflects your choice.A Change of Heart
Think about a point of view you held prior to coming to college. Have you had a change of heart toward a person, group, or idea? Discuss. Also, discuss a change of heart or understanding that you've had because of your involvement in first year focus.
Post a picture or video that relates to your change of heart.
Vision and Goals
Based on your experiences and what you have learned about being a more successful college student, are there things you would do differently if you could? Learning
Discuss 1) what you have learned about yourself; 2) others in general; 3) and things you would do differently if you could start the semester all over again.
Vision
What is your vision for success next semester. Establish one goal and then create a list of action steps to achieve this goal. Be SMART!
S - specific
M - measurable (how will you know you have achieved the goal)?
A - attainable (can you attain the goal)
R - realistic (is the goal reasonable....can you achieve the goal realistically)?
T - timely (is it the appropriate time to do it and what deadlines can you give yourself to check in)?
Random Acts of Kindness
Based off of the activity we did, share the random acts of kindness you committed and the reflection you wrote on Blackboard for each. List each act you did. Share a photo or video that may reflect on the kindness. and share the pictures.
Label each post with DAY ONE, DAY TWO, etc. Include the pictures you took of the act of kindness and/or any video.
Reflect on the entire experience and share what you learned, felt, and discovered about yourself and/the community engagement.
